You don't have to be a Jane Austen fan to vote for the best Emma quotes. You just need to appreciate smart dialogue. This latest adaptation has an abundance of funny lines, and the actors pump up the comedy inherent in the material an extra notch. All in all, this is designed to be a hip, funny Austen flick for a new generation.

Anya Taylor-Joy takes on the role of Emma Woodhouse, a young woman who enjoys playing matchmaker, despite having no particular desire of her own to wed. Emma lives on the estate of her father (Bill Nighy), who greets her activities with a combination of amusement and exasperation. The film follows Emma and her best friend, Harriet Smith (Mia Goth), as they witness and partake in romantic escapades. The supporting cast includes Johnny Flynn as George Knightley, Callum Turner as Frank Churchill, and Miranda Hart as Miss Bates.

Emma is the directorial debut of Autumn de Wilde, a music video director who has worked with artists as diverse as Florence + the Machine, Beck, and The Raconteurs. Austen's novel was adapted this time by Eleanor Catton. This is her debut, as well.
