No FromSoft games are included as they are too obvious of choices. Must have souls-like qualities regardless of genre or style of game.

Souls-like games are renowned for their punishing difficulty and steep learning curve. You'll face tough enemies, traps, and challenging bosses that require skill, an insane amount of patience, and strategy to overcome. If you own a PS5, there are a great variety of Souls-like games available at your fingertips, and that's without including anything published by FromSoft. That means this list of PS5 Souls-like games WILL NOT include titles like Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring or even Armored Core - those recommendations are insultingly obvious if you know anything about this niche category of games.

Instead, these PlayStation 5 Souls-like games all come from other publishers who have done their best to capture the magic (and frustration) of FromSoft's popular Souls franchise. The newest title to be given the Souls-like stamp is Black Myth: Wukong, a massively popular 2024 release that features some very similar elements to FromSoft games, particularly Sekiro. If you want a title that's more Bloodborne than it is Dark Souls, Lies of P is an insanely close experience, and uses the Pinocchio IP to tell its story.

Games that might not look like Souls games are also included, including Hollow Knight, Tunic, and Death's Door. While on the surface you might think these games have nothing in common with FromSoft titles, they all in fact have Souls-like qualities in their gameplay.

    Lies of P

Which Souls Game It's Like: Lies of P is most comparable to Bloodborne due to its dark, gothic, and Victorian-esque setting. The atmosphere of eerie, nightmarish environments and detailed architecture resembles the haunting world of Yharnam. Additionally, the faster-paced, aggressive combat style with an emphasis on dodging aligns closely with the combat mechanics found in Bloodborne.

Lies of P is an action role-playing game set in a dark, Belle Époque-inspired city overrun by deadly puppets. Players control Pinocchio, reimagined as a mechanical warrior, navigating a decaying world while making choices that affect the unfolding narrative. The game features challenging melee combat, weapon customization, and a mechanical arm with various abilities.
