Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular anime right now. It follows Yuji Itadori, a teenage boy who inadvertently eats a cursed object and ends up getting embroiled in the world of Jujutsu Sorcerers. Aside from Itadori, it has a ton of other wonderful characters. If you want to know more about them, don't worry - there's plenty of interesting trivia and details to be learned.

One of the things you didn't know about the Jujutsu Kaisen characters is that Satoru Gojo is a big fan of Digimon. What's more, both of his voice actors also played Digimon characters. Here's another interesting tidbit - Toge's rice ball-themed language actually has a translatable meaning. Also, did you know that Nanami might have ended up being a villain?

  • Nanami Might Have Been A Villain

Kento Nanami is one of the most responsible and kindhearted characters in the series, but he might not have been that way if Akutami had stuck to their original idea.

Nanami was originally planned to be a villain. What his role would have been is not clear, but he certainly would have been different from the Nanami we know today.

  • Sukuna's Fingers Taste Like Soap
    • Photo:

One of the more viscerally unsettling elements of Jujutsu Kaisen is the fact that Itadori literally swallows Sukuna's fingers.

While Itadori makes it pretty clear that he finds the fingers disgusting, he doesn't describe what they taste like. But in a fan book Q&A, Akutami said that they tasted like soap. Still gross, but not quite what we were expecting!

  • Megumi Grieves When His Shikigami Are Destroyed
    • Photo:

JJK doesn't spend a lot of time focusing on Megumi's relationship with his Shikigami, but it turns out that he does care about them a great deal.

Whenever they're destroyed, he gets super depressed about it. In fact, losing his Shikigami impacts him more deeply than losing a person would. This isn't an empty statement - he has lost friends in the line of duty as a Jujutsu Sorcerer.

  • Toge's Language, Deciphered
    • Photo:

In order to avoid unwanted effects from his Cursed Speech, Toge has to speak in rice ball toppings instead of actual words. But he's not just speaking randomly - his words have meaning.

He uses しゃけ (shake), which translates to salmon, as an affirmation. Negation is おかか (okaka), which translates to fish flakes. こんぶ (konbu) or kelp is a greeting. Those are the only three with meanings - the rest are nonsense.

    Gojo Is Into 'Digimon'

    Gojo Is Into 'Digimon'

When he was in high school, Gojo was a big fan of Digimon. He still seems to be into it now, since he references it casually in the manga.

Incidentally, both Gojo's sub and dub voice actors, Yuichi Nakamura and Kaiji Tang, have played Digimon characters. Tang played Kyotaro Imura in Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna while Nakamura played Charismon on Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters and Ryuji Mishima in Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory.

Tang also confirmed Gojo's love for Digimon on his Twitter.

    Hanami Speaks Backwards

You probably noticed that Hanami's voice doesn't exactly sound normal. This effect was achieved by having Atsuko Tanaka, Hanami's voice actor, speak the lines in Japanese.

The lines were then played in reverse.
