Actors usually spend plenty of time with their scripts, getting to know every line and detail. Still, even with all that preparation, it turns out they can end up just as baffled by a story as the rest of us. Experience, awards, and a long list of roles don't always help when a project is especially confusing or keeps changing during production.

Even so, actors often manage to give great performances, whether or not they fully understand what’s happening. Sometimes that confusion actually seeps into their work; other times, it just adds a little extra something to the character. Either way, it proves that getting "lost" in the story isn’t just for the audience.

  • Dakota Johnson was very vocal in her comments about Madame Web during the press tour. And as much as fans found themselves disappointed in the messy plot, Johnson appears to sympathize that the project was lost in production.

“Sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing, and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like, ‘Wait, what?’”

  • Marlon Brando May Have Had His Head In The Clouds During 'Superman'

Marlon Brando rose to fame with numerous iconic roles, such as his performance in The Godfather, A Streetcar Named Desire, and On The Waterfront

However, despite his extraordinary talent, he appears to have clashed with the cast and crew on Superman, when he played the role of Jor-El, Superman's father.

Christopher Reeve, who plays the leading man, has spoken openly about Brando's complete disinterest in playing the part, and that he felt it was just a paycheck.

However, many people believed that those central to the story had a deeper understanding of the truth behind the story, but Harrison Ford made it clear that he was just as confused as everyone else.

“I played a detective who did not have any detecting to do. In terms of how I related to the material, I found it very difficult. There was stuff that was going on that was really nuts.”

  • Matt Damon's most notable franchise is absolutely the action thriller series all about the incredible agent with memory loss, Jason Bourne.

However, while he returned to the franchise to film The Bourne Ultimatum, he felt that the quality of this third entry was distinctly lower than the earlier movies.

“I don’t blame Tony for taking a boatload of money and handing in what he handed in. It’s just that it was unreadable. This is a career-ender. I mean, I could put this thing up on eBay and it would be game over for that dude. It’s terrible. It’s really embarrassing. He was having a go, basically, and he took his money and left.”
